Simple Tips for Daily Skin Care
Simple Tips for Daily Skin Care
Once you have spent some time improving the health of your skin and giving it the tools it needs to rebuild itself, you can work on establishing the best possible maintenance routine. Remember that habits are made in three to four weeks. Start with what you know you can follow for those three weeks. If that means just working on establishing your skin maintenance routine for a month, then your hair routine, that’s fine. Just don’t forget your foundational routine improving your nutrition, hydration and rest!

FACIAL SKIN MAINTENANCE

Cleansing

All makeup should be removed before bed each evening. There are a countless number of products for cleaning your skin, with different formulas for each skin type. Unless you use heavy makeup, it’s easiest to pick a cleanser that also removes makeup. Another option is to just use makeup remover or oil on eye makeup, as foundations and blushers usually come off easily with most regular cleansers. Either way, clean your facial skin every evening before bed, and again in the morning. If you’ve cleaned your face properly in the evening, morning skin will just require a light washing to remove sebum and sweat and prepare your face for your makeup.

If using a water-based cleanser, wet your face with lukewarm water. If using an oil-based cleanser, apply directly to dry skin.

Using your fingers or a soft cloth, gently apply cleanser in small circles over your face, working from your nose to your hairline. Don’t forget to apply cleanser to your neck, using soft swipes upward towards the jaw line. Be careful not to pull or stretch the skin when cleansing.

Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. If you are planning to take a shower or bath, apply your cleanser before getting into the shower/tub to give it a few minutes to work on your skin.

Toning

Toning restores the skin’s natural pH and provides a protective acid mantle that makes the skin stronger. It helps remove any cleanser residue and reduces the size of pores. Depending on your skin type, toners will range from gentle acidic formulations to highly antiseptic formulas.

Soak a cosmetic pad liberally with your toner and gently wipe your face from your nose outward and over the forehead. Don’t forget your neck. You can use cotton balls, but cotton cosmetic pads are easier. You should avoid the delicate skin around your eyes unless using a very gentle toning formula that contains absolutely no alcohol or peroxide and only then to remove oil and dirt from the eyebrows.

Protecting

Your skin should be protected from harmful UV rays daily. “Protecting” is a two-step process. The first part of the process is providing your skin with antioxidants and ingredients that will help it protect itself by maintaining natural protective enzymes. The second part is providing it with sunscreen protection.

If you are going to use a vitamin/nutrient antioxidant solution or serum, you can soak a cotton ball with your solution and apply to face, patting your “problem areas” first, then gently wiping over the rest of your face. Apply to neck in upward motion. If using a commercial antioxidant serum, follow manufacturer’s directions.

Moisturizing

As women get older, their natural sebum production slows. Skin needs inner and outer hydration to maintain is strength, flexibility and integrity. Moisturizers also reduce the risk of mechanical damage to the skin, by reducing friction and reducing the chance the skin will be stretched or torn by contact.

You can protect and moisturize in one step, but use an all-inclusive skin lotion that provides vitamins C, E, and A, and oils to moisturize and a sun block. You can also provide your own antioxidant protection by applying solutions of nutrient vitamins/herbs to your skin, then using a moisturizing sunscreen. We’ll show you more about which ones to chose and how to apply them in later chapters.

Apply moisturizer lightly to face in outward motions. Apply to neck in upward motions. Be careful not to pull or stretch your skin. For daytime, if your moisturizer does not already contain sun protection, apply a grease-free sunscreen to your face, throat, as well as all body skin exposed to the sun.

Exfoliate

As your skin grows and repairs itself, the outer layer of dead cells slough off. To expedite this process and get to the fresher, newer cells below, it’s recommended that you exfoliate your skin at least once a week. There are basically two ways of doing this, mechanically and chemically. For mechanical exfoliation, you can use a good skin scrub, a microdermabrasion cream or a loufah pad. Chemically, you can use one of the common acidic exfoliating preparations, glycolic acid peels, lactic acid peels, alpha-hydroxy, etc. Some skin cleansers come with this step built right inside the formula. Your skin type will determine how often you should exfoliate and which method you should use. Irritated skin, like that with acne, eczema or rosacea will not appreciate the heavy scrubbing of mechanical exfoliants, and even a chemical formula may be too irritating for more than occasional use. Older skin that is highly sun-damaged may require either or both methods, perhaps more often, to remove the layers of damaged skin and help stimulate the production of healthy collagen structures in the deeper layers of the skin. Again, we’ll show you how to determine how often and which method of exfoliation will work best for you.

Whatever formula you plan to use, exfoliants should be applied similar to cleansers. If you are using a chemical peel, avoid “scrubbing” your skin, let the chemicals do the work. If using a scrub, apply VERY light pressure, and work in tiny circles. Again, be careful not to pull or stretch the skin.

Most exfoliants will require some time to “work”. Applying exfoliants right before showering is a good idea, because you can rinse them off under the shower, which helps in removing any residue.

Masks

Facial masks serve several purposes, the most important one being the deep cleaning of pores. Masks are also made for super-hydration, the increase of circulation and for sheer enjoyment. Which kind you use and how often will be determined by your skin type and your results using the P-Method. Generally, it is a good idea to use a deep cleansing clay-based mask at least once a week. Various cosmetic clays are used in these masks because they “pull” and absorb impurities, dirt and dried sebum out of your pores, allowing sebum to flow naturally and smoothly, brightening the appearance of the skin, helping to prevent acne infections, and improving the texture of your skin. Several types of clay masks are available for every skin moisture type.

Apply the mask gently and allow it to dry. Most clay masks will require 10-15 minutes to absorb all the impurities and wastes from your pores. Rinse the mask off gently with fingertips – don’t pull. Again, it’s a good idea to apply these before getting into the shower.

After exfoliating or using a mask, tone, protect and moisturize your skin.

Example Routines

MORNING:
Cleanse: Use a gentle cleanser to remove any sweat or sebum from your skin.
Tone: Use the proper toner for your skin type. Using toner will help your makeup go on smoother.
Moisturize: Use a non-oily moisturizer if wearing makeup. The combination of an oily moisturizer and foundation can make a made up face look cakey and greasy within a few hours – even on dry aged skin. If you don’t wear makeup, you can use an oilier moisturizer.
Protect: Absolutely necessary – use a sunblock of at least 15 SPF daily (unless you work the graveyard shift). Even the darkest skin should be protected from the harmful rays of the sun. Sun protection can also be found in some commercial foundation formulas. If you use a moisturizer or foundation with a built-in sunblock of at least 15 SPF, you do not need to add a separate sunblock, though you should reapply these throughout the day.

EVENING:
Cleanse: Cleanse your skin thoroughly before bed at night. Remove all makeup and use a cleanser that is right for your skin type.
Tone: Use a toner to remove cleanser reside and restore pH balance.
Protect: Add any anti-oxidant serum to your skin and allow to soak in (may be combined with your moisturizer.
Moisturizer: Add any special eye cream plus skin moisturizers gently to your skin.

6 Usefull tips to fight body odour
6 Usefull tips to fight body odour
There are three types of secretary glands. Sweat glands are the most widely distributed and their function is to regulate body temperature. An average person loses atleast half a litre of sweat every day and this figure rises during summer and physical exercise. Sweat has a slightly acrid smell.
  1. Area like the foot pose a problem because the sweat becomes trapped by socks and shoes.

  2. The odour associated with the armpits is because the sweat cannot easily evaporate.

  3. Bacteria decompose the sweat to produce the characteristic body odour.

  4. Some parts of the body like the armpits and genitals have a strong smell because they are richly endowed with all types of glands. As these are covered, water cannot evaporate easily and offensive body odours are thus caused.

  5. Any amount of scrubbing or washing would be able to get rid of only a fraction of the bacteria and that too for a very short time.

Useful Tips
  • Avoid synthetic clothes. Use cotton clothes instead.

  • Avoid hot drink consumption as much as possible.

  • Avoid tight-fitting clothes.

  • Take regular baths

  • Use anti-perspirants, deodorants etc

  • Drink plenty of water and eat lot of fresh fruits.

  • Use perfumes.

How to Bathe Useful Tips
How to Bathe Useful Tips
Bath is an effective beauty therapy. It is important not only for cleanliness but also for the proper maintenance of skin. Plan and use every minute of it to do everything you have to do and then relax for as along as you possibly can. Use this time to really unwind: do a few exercises while the bath is running.

Take this time and use it to the full – Exploit and use the freedom – and emerge calm, clean and refreshed in body and mind: a new woman !
  • In the morning prefer to take your bath under the shower. Cold water closes the skin pores and helps you shake off early morning laziness.

  • While the tap is on, undress and tuck your hair away form your face and neck. Remove face make-up if any, with a cleansing lotion.

  • Blow your nose and clean the nostril with a damp absorbent cotton or tissue paper.

  • Get into the bath tub and relax completely for a few minutes.

  • Apply soap to the upper part of your body. Rub every part except your breasts with the friction mitt.

  • Pay special attention to your neck and clean it with the friction mitt.

  • Give circulation to your arms, elbows and shoulders too and use the friction mitt on legs, heels and ankles.

  • Use a bath brush to give the back of your body a thorough scrub and prevent spots.

  • Use an anti-perspirant in the armpits.

  • Relax completely atleast for five minutes before stepping out of the bath.

  • Towel your body dry.

  • Apply talcum powder on under-arms, feet and the public area.

  • Rub body lotion or massage cream on the rest of your body.

  • Clean your navel.

  • After a bath, try to relax for a few minutes before starting dressing up.

  • While using soap, fresh, lukewarm water is the best for bathing because hot water, may damage oil glands.

  • Do not be economical in your use of water for bathing.

  • Use standard bath body care products

  • Ascertain before wiping that you have washed off all soap.

  • Towels should be clear, soft and puffy.

  • Wipe with towel by dabbing and then rubbing gently.

  • Do not rub towel on delicate parts like face, neck, chin and stomach or else wrinkles will appear.

  • Relax for a few minutes after a refreshing bath.

The Different Skin Types - Which Skin Type Are You?
The Different Skin Types - Which Skin Type Are You?
The way your skin behaves and reacts determines the type of skin you have. Basic skin types include oily, dry, combination, normal and sensitive. The skin on your face is the best guide to classifying your skin type.

An easy way to find out what type of skin you have is to cleanse your face, wait for an hour and then take a tissue and wipe your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. If the tissue picks up oily residue from all these areas, you have oily skin; if it picks up oil only from the forehead, nose and chin (T-zone), you have combination skin; if it picks up dry, flaky skin, you have dry skin; and if you do not find oil or flakes, you have normal skin. No matter what type of skin you have, cleansing and moisturizing twice a day is an important part of having healthy, attractive skin. Choose products that are designed for your particular skin type for maximum results.

Beyond the basic skin types, you may also have sensitive skin. Although sensitive skin is often dry, any type of skin can be sensitive. Sensitive skin is usually thin, delicate, reacts quickly to hot and cold temperatures, is easily subject to sun and wind burns and is prone to allergic reactions. Cleansers, detergents, cosmetics, alcohol-based external products and temperature changes can make sensitive skin red, dry, itchy, blotchy and even reveal surface veins. The most favorable type of products to use on your skin are fragrance-free and non-comedogenic (non-pore clogging) with a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or more. Before using any product, it is a good idea to test it on the inside of your wrist to see if your skin has any reaction to it. Always choose mild cleansers and use a soft towel on sensitive skin.

Knowing the different skin types, and which one you have, is the first step toward choosing a skin routine that makes you look and feel your very best.

How Is Cosmetic Different From Plastic Surgery?
How Is Cosmetic Different From Plastic Surgery?
There has been enormous growth in the available procedures for cosmetic and plastic surgery since the beginning of the twentieth century. Along with this has come the standard of looking healthy, young and beautiful. If you are considering a procedure to alter your appearance, you may be looking into cosmetic surgery. Before you choose a procedure, you will want to know their differences. One thing you will want to know is the difference between plastic and cosmetic surgery. While these are both similarly-defined, there are several distinct differences.

Cosmetic surgery, is defined as surgery chosen purely for redefining your looks. If you are dissatisfied with a facial or body feature, you can choose cosmetic surgery to alter the specific area. Cosmetic surgery focuses on reducing lines and wrinkles in the face, removing body fat from a specific area, or lifting, supplementing or reducing a specific body feature.

Plastic surgery, on the other hand, focuses on body reconstruction. If you have a birth defect or have had a disease or injury that has caused a change in your features, you may use plastic surgery to change your body. Plastic surgery is known to remove imbalance as well as heal deformed areas that may have caused pain or problems in the past. If you have had surgery as a result of a disease, plastic surgery may be used to reform your body image.

As cosmetic and plastic surgery advances, the standards for and knowledge of them have also advanced. One of your choices will be in the selection of your surgeon. While both cosmetic and plastic surgeons are required to attend medical school in order to legally perform surgery, their backgrounds may be different. Both cosmetic and plastic surgeons receive the same background medical training. However, a cosmetic surgeon will not receive educational training for cosmetics specifically. They will obtain most of their training through a post-residency training program consisting of workshops, seminars, and eventually, certification.

Plastic surgeons, however, after completing their general medical education will also need to complete a specific training program. The focus, instead of being on cosmetics, will be on learning how to surgically treat physical problems, such as tumors, deformities, and other types of complications. Upon completion of this training, they will then earn a certificate for plastic surgery specifically. Either of these doctors have the option of becoming trained in both cosmetic and plastic surgery.

If you are considering cosmetic surgery, you will want to make sure the surgeon has been certified through a specific training program and has a proper medical background. This will be different than finding a surgeon to econstruct a body defect. By understanding the difference between these two kinds of surgeons as well as surgeries, you will be able to eliminate from consideration some available surgeons when deciding to have cosmetic surgery.

Ten Skin Problems Of Pregnancy
Ten Skin Problems Of Pregnancy
Pregnancy brings with it many changes, emotionally, physically, and mentally. From a mental and emotional standpoint, you’re preparing to adopt a new role of parent, with all its accompanying responsibilities. Physically, of course, you’re dealing with changes in the shape, function, and movement of your body. While we have a society-wide belief that pregnant women are always glowing, that, unfortunately, is not always the case. No where is this more evident than in the skin problems of pregnancy.

You’ve probably heard the phrase, “the eyes are the window to the soul”. If this is true, your skin is the window to your current state of health and the changes taking place on the inside. During pregnancy, aside from all the other issues, you may also have to deal with a variety of skin changes, including rashes, acne, stretch marks, breaking nails, hair growth or loss, and dark blotches on the skin.

Most of these changes are directly linked to the enormous amount of hormonal fluctuations women experience during pregnancy. During pregnancy, there are all kinds of changes which can have impact on your skin, leading to new skin problems or worsening of existing ones. In some cases, pregnancy may actually help improve existing skin conditions. Let’s look at various skin conditions in more detail, defining the main ten skin problems of pregnancy.

1) Rashes. Rashes appear due to irritation of the skin. One common pregnancy rash is called pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP). This is the most frequently seen condition specific to pregnancy. Women with PUPPP demonstrate a rash which starts on the abdomen and can spread to the breasts, arms, thighs, and buttocks.

2) Acne. Acne is another skin condition that may get better or worse during pregnancy. Acne is, at least in part, driven by hormones, so the hormones of pregnancy can lead to more breakouts for some women, and clearer skin for others.

3) Oily skin. Oily skin is third skin condition which may arise during pregnancy. This is related to increased levels of androgen, the male sex hormone, which causes an increase in sebum production. The more sebum produced, the oilier the skin. Many women report that their skin and hair becomes oilier during pregnancy. Most of the time, these issues can be addressed with over the counter oil controlling cleansers and products.

4) Stretch marks. The fourth skin problem of pregnancy, stretch marks arise when the under layers of the skin is stretched, resulting in visible striations on the surface of the skin. Stretch marks can be treated after the fact, but the best treatment is always prevention. Keeping your skin well moisturized, especially on your tummy, breasts, thighs, can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

5) Spider angiomas. These are another possible skin problem of pregnancy. Spider angiomas are groups of very tiny blood vessels which gather around a central point and radiate out like the legs of a spider. Pregnant women are likely to develop these on their chest, faces, arms, and sometimes on other places on the body. Most of these spider angiomas clear up after pregnancy.

6) Chloasma. Chloasma, also called melasma, or the “mask of pregnancy” is another skin condition which is diagnosed when certain areas of the skin turn darker because of excess pigmentation. Most often, this condition affects places of the skin which are most often exposed to sun, like the upper lip, forehead, cheeks. This condition is likely to clear up after pregnancy. Again, you can lessen your chances of chloasma by using a good (baby safe) doctor recommended sunscreen throughout the course of your pregnancy.

7) Too much hair. Changes in the hair are also common during pregnancy. Some women lose a lot of hair within a few months after delivery, while many are troubled with excess hair growth during pregnancy. Excess hair growth is most often seen on the lip and chin, and is triggered by an increase in androgen and other male hormones during pregnancy.

8) Brittle nails. Many women experience breaking, splitting, or brittleness to their nails during pregnancy. Physicians aren't quite sure why this occurs, but it may be managed with an over the counter nail hardening polish. Check with your doctor.

9) Skin tags. Skin tags are little pieces of skin which over-grow and hang from the neck. These can increase in number during pregnancy. If you have skin tags before pregnancy, it may be that pregnancy will cause these to increase.

10) Atopic dermatitis. Also known as eczema, this skin condition may appear or worsen during pregnancy. Marked by extreme skin itchiness, too much scratching can lead to the skin become red, swollen, or cracked.

If you are pregnant, be sure to watch for these ten skin problems of pregnancy. If you begin to develop any of these conditions, seek appropriate medical advice; you don’t have to suffer through these conditions for the whole nine months. Chances are that your doctor will have recommendations which can address your skin problems so you can have healthy, beautiful skin, even while you’re pregnant.

Advantages Of Using A Skin Care System
Advantages Of Using A Skin Care System
Aren't most skin care products basically alike? Does it really matter that I use different brands of skin care products together? I want to look great, and I don't want to waste my money. That was my attitude toward skin care and cosmetics for quite a long time until I learned that there really are some advantages to using a skin care system. Here's what I discovered.

The first and most important advantage to using a skin care system is that the products are designed to work together chemically. The cleanser might slightly reduce the pH balance of your skin while the toner or moisturizer might be formulated to restore the PH balance to your skin. The cleanser and toner may use different amount of an ingredient to remove oil, dirt, and dead skin cells from your skin. The moisturizer may contain oils or ingredients that help sunscreen absorb and work effectively. Even though the system is made up of four or five parts, those parts work so well together that they become something beyond the sum of their parts. Hang in with me for a second and let me explain what I mean.

Do you like peanut butter sandwiches? A sandwich is a system that's better than its individual parts. Imagine that I bring you a plate with a big scoop of peanut butter, a large blob of jam, and 2 slices of bread laying on a plate. I offer you this plate and ask if you'd like to eat it. After you roll your eyes and wonder if I'm nuts, you will decide what to do next.

Now imagine that I bring you a plate with freshly toasted bread, spread with a generous amount of peanut butter and evenly covered with jam, put together as a sandwich. Would you be more likely to accept this plate from me? I'm betting you would. Why is that? It's because your sandwich is complete, and the bread, peanut butter, and jam are working to make something better than the sum of the parts I used to put it together. The first plate had the components of the same sandwich, but they weren't working together, were they?

Skin care products work in a similar way, and when you use a system designed to work together, you get better results than if you use a cleanser from Company A, a toner from company B, and a moisturizer from Company C. Oh, and don't forget about the sunscreen! It comes from company D, and it doesn't absorb into your skin very well because the moisturizer from Company C has a base that won't let the sunscreen do its job. With a system, the parts support each other well so that there are no ingredient clashes.

The other advantages of using a skin care system are important too. When you use a system, it's much easier to solve problems that come up if your skin responds badly to something in the skin care product. Companies that sells skin care systems are usually very easy to approach with concerns and will refund your money if the system doesn't work for you. When you don't use a system, you can't be sure what's irritating your skin and don't know who to turn to for help when you need it. I discovered this for myself when I was using 3 products from different companies and ended up with a rash on my face. I was sure it was the cleanser and threw it away. I found out I was wrong in a hurry the next time I put on the moisturizer! Ouch! I ended up losing the cleanser and moisturizer that day, and that cost me quite a bit of money.

The final advantage of using a skin care system is that you often get a nice price break. Manufacturers reward their customers for making smart choices about their skin by offering them a discount over what they'd pay if they bought each product separately.

With the advantages we've talked about here, I hope you'll consider using a system of skin care products to nourish your skin. You'll save money, get support if you find that the products aren't working as you expect, and get better results to keep your skin looking young, healthy, and radiantly beautiful.

Latest Technology In Removing And Reducing Stretch Marks
Latest Technology In Removing And Reducing Stretch Marks
Stretch marks have often been a reason for us to be self-conscious. Because of these scars, our confidence level in wearing a string bikini hits rock bottom. Anybody can relate, that is why there are many techniques on how stretch marks can either be entirely removed or reduced and made less noticeable.

According to doctors, stretch marks are not hazardous to one’s health. Having them does not limit the body to function properly. In fact, stretch marks are like scars. And just like scars, stretch marks are damages to the dermis. What makes it difficult to deal with is because they can be too dark and too ugly to look at.

Some people resort to lotion and topical creams. They diligently and religiously apply these on the surface and hope that there will be improvements. In some cases, there are. In others, it does not. At least, not as much as they expected it to work.

There are so many ways on how you can remove or reduce those pesky stretch marks. Here are some of the latest:

1. Retin-A Treatment

This is what doctors normally recommend. You cannot purchase Retin-A without a prescription. However, this solution works best if the stretch marks are less than a year old. For you to know when the perfect time to try this remedy is if your stretch marks still have a pink or reddish color. Problem is, not all stretch marks start off with that color. There are limitations when you can use this. Do not use Retin-A if you are pregnant and breast-feeding because this might have a side effect on the infant. The way for you to know if the solution is working for you is if you feel a burning and peeling sensation on the surface you applied it on. This means that the new generation of collagen is replacing the old damaged one.

2. Micro-Dermabrasion Treatment

In this process, chemical materials containing micro-crystals are sprayed on the skin using a device similar to a vacuum cleaner. This treatment required multiple sessions, normally 10 to 12 sessions in a span of three to four months. Unfortunately, micro-dermabrasion treatment is brutally painful. Some who tried this said that it was similar to being lashed and whipped. The process may also create additional scars. After one session, you are not allowed to go directly under the sun so as to not have further side effects. At the moment, researchers are still looking on the effectiveness of this surgical remedy.

3. Laser Treatment

Laser or Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation has been used in eye surgeries and removal of tattoos. Laser has been proven to be highly effective when it comes to surgeries. With it, wrinkles, scars, acne, facial and body hair have been successfully removed. In removing stretch marks, the procedure can be very painful. There would be bruising, scabbing, peeling and redness after the session. Multiple sessions are required in the treatment. However, just like all remedies, this does not work for everyone.

Technology has been helpful in our lives. Latest discoveries make life easier for us. As it turns out, these discoveries in technology also contribute in enhancing aesthetic appeal. Whether the stretch marks be completely removed or merely reduced, at least the conducted processes are proof that technology assists us in many ways imaginable.

Take Care Of Your Skin
Take Care Of Your Skin
Every woman desires to have a beautiful and flawless skin. But in order to achieve such an outcome, it is essential to know which the right way to do it is. Today's cosmetic industry provides a woman with so many choices that is rather difficult to select one that covers the specific needs of a particular skin complexion. Thus, it is important for a woman to know what exactly she needs to look for and how to apply what she purchases so as not to suffer later due to lack of knowledge.

- The 3 Steps: Every woman knows that there are three steps that can make skin feel clean and look healthy; cleansing, toning and moisturizing. But not all women know that it is important to use the products that are appropriate for their own skin type. Cleansing soaps can be rather harsh for your sensitive type of skin, or others do not clean as deeply as you wish. Buy the one that is appropriate for your skin's condition and try to observe how your skin reacts to every application; even if you have been using it for years. Additionally, if the toner you use makes your skin feel extremely dry afterwards, it is probably not the best choice for you. Even if you have previously used it and there was no irritation, due to temperature variations or season allergies, your skin may have become more sensitive and needs more care. In general the toner should be mild and not make your skin feel tight. Finally, if your skin type is oily it is better to purchase moisturizers that are oil free. Always apply some type of moisturizer after you wash your face. On a daily basis, regardless if you plan to use makeup or not, moisturizing your skin is extremely important for it to stay healthy and glow. Experts also advice women to use glycolic acid, as it is a gentle scrub that removes dull dead cells, surfacing a polished smooth skin. In fact, it gently exfoliates and retextures skin's surface.

- Using sunscreen: It is vital for your skin's health to apply a skin sunscreen suitable for your skin's tone, every time you are going to expose your skin to the sun. This should not happen only every time you are planning to go to the beach. Even if you are driving to work on a sunny day and you are inside your car, it is important to protect your face and body by applying a sunscreen lotion at least fifteen minutes before you move outdoors. Remember to reapply if you are constantly out or you are sweating.

- Balanced makeup: Stay close to your natural tone and always select a foundation that is suitable for your skin type. Looking fresh and keeping your skin healthy can be combined if you ask for experts help when visiting a beauty care salon or store and always remember to check the applicator before purchasing your new foundation.

- Masque and glow: For an extremely good looking skin, apply a masque once or twice every week and you will have a radiant complexion in minutes. Consult an expert and buy the masque that will cover your skin's needs and will leave you with a refreshing feeling.

- Soap is not always your best friend: Regular soaps are not for your face. The oil-rich protective film your skin produces to keep its surface healthy by preventing bacteria and other infections from developing is striped off your face if the wrong type of soap is used. Thus, use a soap-free cleanser and always apply a moisturizer afterwards.

- Expensive is not better: Some women think that the expensive products usually have the best results. This is not always true. The important thing is to know your skin type and then research and buy the product that can cover your needs while not exceeding your budget's limits.

Skin Changes During Menopause
Skin Changes During Menopause
During the course of the natural menopause process, many women notice surprising changes in the texture and appearance of their skin. Most women begin noticing a generalalized all-over drying of the skin. They also start to notice wrinkles forming where the skin has begun drying.

It is common to turn to estrogen based hormone replacement therapy to treat these and other menopause-related skin problems. The side effects from this type of therapy, though, can lead to further problems. If a cream form of estrogen is used on the affected areas, it can act as a moisturizing agent. However, this cream is unavailable n the United States so most doctors are unable to prescribe it. Progesterone cream has also been successful as a moisturizer, but most doctors believe the side effects outweigh any benefits of prescribing it to their patients. However, there are a number of anti-aging, non-prescription creams that are gaining popularity, and most of them are very effective. It is helpful to keep in mind though, that aging skin is a part of growing older. To some degree, accepting it instead of fighting it may help you retain abetter overall self-image. If you do attempt to use something like estrogen cream, you may have to live with side effects such as general weight gain or darkening skin.

If your skin loses its tone or the wrinkles appear rapidly, it may be an indication of collagen loss. This can result in more serious problems, like collagen loss in the bones. This may indicative of osteoporosis. If you suspect that this is the case, you should consult your physician immediately.

As your skin ages during menopause, you are more prone to developing broken capillaries or spider veins that are visible to the naked eye. One of the best available means to prevent these is full body moisturization. You can begin by increasing your daily regular water consumption. It is also beneficial to supplement your diet with raw flaxseed oil. It can be added to vegetables or salad. Using herbal liposome-containing skin products can also help moisturize your skin. Liposomes transport moisture to the cells below the epidermal layer. This can protect and benefit your overall skin tone.

There are a number of other available products that may moisturize your skin during menopause. Apricot kernel oil, Cocoa butter, olive oil, and almond oil have all been proven to be quite helpful at hydrating the skin. Alpha hydroxy acids naturally rejuvenates the skin by exfoliating it. Check the product labels on these products, to ensure that concentrations contain at least eight percent alpha hydroxy acid. Fruit acids are also effective to promote skin rejuvenation. Two popular examples are papaya and strawberry pastes.

Learn to live with your post-menopausal skin. Take care of it and protect it by remaining out of the sun and applying daily sun screen. Use only products that you know to be effective on your skin. Always consult your doctor or healer when you have concerns or are trying something new.

Age Doesn't Matter With Aging Skin Care Treatments
Age Doesn't Matter With Aging Skin Care Treatments
Your skin is a very important part of your body. The overall wellbeing of your body is reflected on your skin. If you are always out and about, exposing yourself to too much sun, your skin may be damaged by Ultra-Violet rays of the sun. If you are not watching what you eat and not living a healthy lifestyle, the lack of vigor will show on your skin. If you do not apply creams or lotion to keep your skin moisturized, your skin will become dry. It will not help knowing the fact that no one stays young forever. But there is always a way around it! Aging skin care is a very easy method to erase a few years and look younger than your real age.

Here’s a fact – aging happens the moment you are born. It is best to start taking good care of your skin when you are young. Of course, signs of aging does not show itself when you are young. Wrinkles, dry skin and other signs become visible in middle age. However, aging can manifest in people as young as those in their late 20s.

It is never too soon to start with aging skin care. But first, you must know the processes and causes of aging. Signs of aging are mostly caused by free radicals that damage your skin’s collagen. Collagen is made up of elastic proteins that keep your skin tight and smooth. On the other hand, free radicals are basically aerial components, such as oxygen that have been transformed into harmful substance because of the pollution in our environment. These free radicals are very harmful to the skin, as it corrodes and damages anything that comes in contact with it. Since the skin is very sensitive, the effect of free radicals is twice as dangerous.

Being exposed to free radicals makes the aging process twice as fast. What can you do to lessen the effect of this harmful component on your skin? Well, avoid going outside. Direct exposure to sun and wind will do harm to your skin. When you are going out and about, apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30. There are some cosmetic and aging skin care products, such as powder and foundation, that have a built in protection to the sun, so can also check those out. Also, try living a healthy lifestyle. Tobacco and alcohol greatly contributes to the aging process. They have chemicals that corrode the skin and leave it dry, making the skin more susceptible to fine lines. Aging skin care products are also in forms of gels, creams and toners. You may also want to consider cosmetic surgery to permanently erase the age from your face. However, you must keep in mind that once aging starts to show itself, it would be unstoppable. Aging skin care products and methods will be able to help you lessen the signs to aging and make you look younger.

Tips On Finding The A Skin Care Professional
With beauty-enhancement and skin care clinics opening in every corner of the metropolis, it gets a bit hard to find the right one that will take care of all your beauty needs. In fact, the more clinics to choose from, the more confusing it is for the average consumer who does not know a thing about professional skin care.

Below are some tips that can help you in your search for the skin care professional that will not only help you care for your skin but will also help you take care of your whole body and well-being.

1. Go to reputable hospitals

Most hospitals will have sections or departments that deal with the skin. Most of the time, it is best to go here and ask for referrals as most of their doctors are reputable and experts in their fields.

Another advantage of seeking a doctor inside the hospitals or in major clinics is the fact that they will be able to provide your with the latest in facilities and also in terms of techniques. Big hospitals are constantly upgrading their service as well as updating their staff with the latest technology.

2. Ask a recommendation.

For sure, you will know someone who have been treated and if not, you can always ask your friends who will surely know someone really good. Getting referrals is a great way of ensuring that your doctor is really good because someone you know has already tried his services.

Another advantage of going to a doctor that your friends know is that you can ask for tips when it comes to some things like haggling for the price.

3. Check your budget

You can get the best care but if you don’t have the money to pay for it, why bother? It is important that before you look for a good doctor, you know how much you are willing to spend. The doctor that you should be asking for should be within that budget. Otherwise, you will only be wasting your time.

4. Make sure that you have all the facts

Before you go hunting for doctors, make sure that you have already done your research on the procedure. This way, you will be able to find the doctor that will fit your needs and requirements.

Remember that every doctor has his or her own specialty. Find the doctor whose specialty is the procedure that you want to be done on you.

Beauty Secrets Of A Traveling Woman: 10 Simple Tips
Beauty Secrets Of A Traveling Woman: 10 Simple Tips
Let’s face it, life on the go is challenging. Though, we still want to look our best on the road. When traveling for business you’re busy with client meetings, conferences and marathon days. The last thing you need to worry about is how your makeup looks. Remember to keep it simple and less is more when it comes to beauty on the go.

Today simplicity is vital, especially with the TSA restrictions on liquids in carry-on luggage. It is essential that you stay informed and up to date with the latest travel news. Being informed can make the difference between having toothpaste in you bag or having to rely on breath mints to freshen up instead.

Even seasoned travelers fall prey to the liquid free zone. Recently, at the Miami airport, I dumped a few personal items into the gray plastic bin at the security checkpoint. Much to my surprise, I had a tube of lip gloss in my possession. No, I did not have a temper tantrum; instead I politely nodded when the TSA worker whisked away my tube of lip gloss to the land of homeless beauty items.

I did breathe a little easier knowing that the lip gloss was a drugstore purchase and not one of the ridiculously expensive brands. My purse strings were not tremendously affected, though my pride was hurt. I knew better.

Before your next trip take a look at these 10 Simple Tips to staying beautiful on the go.

1. Keep it Simple. Leave all of the full size bottles and containers at home. Try searching the internet for trial and travel size toiletries. Use products that travel well and are space savers. Towelettes are ideal options for traveling light. Towelettes come in several forms; deodorant, lotion, perfume, polish remover, sunscreen and insect repellent.

2. Less is More. Pack only the essentials. A wonderful addition to your cosmetic arsenal is the all purpose or 3-in- 1 crayon/pencil. You can find terrific options for an eye/cheek/lip pencil from several makeup manufacturers. This multi purpose item saves lots of space and gives you a pulled together look that is low maintenance.

3. One Color Scheme. Keep the makeup palette in the same family. This cuts down on the amount of cosmetic items you need and it will give you a more professional look. Try a great bronzer to give you a little color and a great glow.

4. Let Your Eyes Have Cake. If you’re like me, I can go without the lipstick, blush and eye shadow. Though, the one thing I must have is mascara. Limited amounts of liquid mascara are allowed in your carry-on luggage. If traveling through the security checkpoint gives you the creeps, try packing some cake mascara. Cake mascara was popular years ago and it is now being used more often because it is travel friendly.

5. Moist Lips are Hip. Keep the lip gloss in the checked luggage. Lipstick in limited quantities is allowed in your carry on luggage. Make sure it is a moisturizing lipstick. Some of the long lasting formulas are extremely drying to the lips.

6. Neat Nails Reign. Always travel with an emery board. Sharp, pointed and metallic files are best left at home. Keep polish plain and in neutral tones. If the polish is neutral it does not show chips as easily. Ladies, there are even dry polish strips available that travel well and no need to worry about the messy bottle. Nice hands speak volumes to your clients.

7. Lighten Your Hair Load. Find a hair style that requires little maintenance. Experiment with different lengths to find out what works best for you. Travel with fewer hair appliances to make your load lighter, (e.g., hair dryer, flat/curling iron). Most hotels are upgrading their blow dryers and many have even removed them from the wall. Thank goodness for the small things.

8. Protect Your Skin. A great moisturizer is your best friend. Airplanes are very dehydrating. Even if you have oily skin you may benefit from a daily cleansing and moisturizing routine. Most moisturizers today are available with a sunscreen. This is further protection from the damaging affects of the sun.

9. Water Keeps You Hydrated. The single most important thing you could do for yourself is to stay hydrated. Whether you are traveling by car, train or airplane, the body needs water. The human body is mostly water. Your skin, hair and nails respond positively to hydration. Drink water before and during you trip. Remember, alcoholic beverages dehydrate you even further.

10. Have a Great Attitude. We all know people who are attractive and we know people who we think are beautiful. Most of the beautiful people have an inner beauty that separates them from the rest. Keep a good attitude. Life is short so make it beautiful.

Aging Skin Care Crime Committed: Wanted: 5 Free Radical Members of the Chain Reactive Oxygen Gang
Aging Skin Care Crime Committed: Wanted: 5 Free Radical Members of the Chain Reactive Oxygen Gang
Each day we are robbed of our youth by 5 major aging “criminals,” free radical members of the “Reactive Oxygen” gang, whose “weapon of choice” is inflammation. These persistent and nasty criminals prey on us as they rob our youth and nutrient-filled “homes” (bodies). Sometimes we actually invite these free radical criminals into our homes to wreak havoc. This happens when we over-expose ourselves, without protection, to harmful processes and chemicals that produce harmful singlet oxygens, like: tanning beds, the sun, first- and second-hand smoke, fluorescent lights, smog, car exhaust, stress, alcohol, medication, and poor diet. The result of these, often innocent, over-exposures lead to a verdict of aging skin filled with free radicals causing wrinkles, skin cancer, discoloration, sagging, and rashes.

So when it is time to go to court and press charges because the aging crimes have been committed, will you have the best defense: Smart Skin Fitness?

Smart Skin Fitness begins with a positive identification of the 5 Chain Reactive Oxygen free radical Gang members. Selecting skin care products and eating whole foods that contain combative antioxidants protects us from becoming life-long victims of the Chain Reactive Oxygen Gang and garners flawless, supple hydrated skin. Certain antioxidants have more protective power against specific free radical members of the Chain Reactive Oxygen Gang than others so it is important to arm ourselves with as many antioxidants as possible to regularly fight and disarm the free radical gang. It is also important to note that not all antioxidants work at the same pace. Some are able to quickly reverse damage and some merely protect the skin from worsening. This difference in protective strength is the primary reason we need to take in as many different types of antioxidants as possible on a regular basis.

The Line-Up: 5 Free Radical Members of the Chain Reactive Oxygen Gang

1. Singlet Oxygen - to combat the negative aging effects of singlet oxygen, look for products that include antioxidants Beta Carotene, a-Lipoic acid, CoQ10, Quercetin (natural forms: green and white tea)

2. Superoxide Radical – to combat the negative aging effects of super oxide radicals, look for products that include antioxidants Super oxide Dismutase, Zinc, Copper (natural form: mango)

3. Lipid Peroxide- to combat the negative aging effects of lipid peroxide, look for products that include antioxidants grape seed, Jojoba oil, Resveratrol, tocopheryl acetate, cranberry oil (natural forms: white tea and passion flower)

4. Hydrogen Peroxide – to combat the negative aging effects of hydrogen peroxide, look for products that include antioxidants Glutathione, Catechin Flavnoids (natural forms: green and white tea)

5. Hydroxyl Radical – to combat the negative aging effects of hydroxyl radicals, look for products that include antioxidants Vitamin E (natural forms: grains + avocado) and Vitamin C (natural forms: berries + citrus)

The 5 Most Wanted Chain Reactive Oxygen Aging Gang members are hanging out each day, ready and waiting to create free radicals and accelerate your aging process. So be skin-smart and arm your self, not with force, but with the best defense in town, Smart Skin Fitness.

Concealers: Hiding the Truth of Dark Circles
Concealers: Hiding the Truth of Dark Circles
Eyes are capable of conveying a world of messages. Saint Jerome has rightly said, "The face is the mirror of the mind, and eyes, without speaking, confess the secrets of the heart."

Great Qualities of Eyes

Such is the greatness and power of eyes that they can perform many functions. Beautiful eyes are an enviable gift because they simply enhance your beauty. They will never be missed. For this reason, all of us take care of our eyes and even spend fortunes to fine tune them.

Are Eye Problems Inevitable?

Sometimes though, our efforts fail to produce results, and our eyes start losing their glitter and life. Other than the natural causes like aging, you can try to solve your problem by using topical preparations and beauty products.

One of the main problems that women face is dark circles under their eyes. These dark circles are caused by many factors—some natural ones and some avoidable ones. You need to first analyze the cause of these dark circles so that you can plan the most appropriate and fastest solution. Select well-known brands of cosmetics to minimize side-effects.

Remedies to Treat Your Eyes

There are many solutions to treat dark circles under your eyes. Some of these treatments are temporary, while others are permanent. Choose one that suits your needs. For example, the most common procedure for treating dark circles is application of concealers. The term concealer is self-explanatory. It refers to those products used to conceal facial imperfections.

By facial imperfections, we refer to the common problems pertaining to the face, like dark circles under the eyes, wrinkles, puffiness, fine lines, and crow's feet. These are detrimental to your beauty since they make your eyes look tired and aged. To overcome such problems, you choose the correct shade of concealer and foundation. A few tips to choose the correct concealer will help you a great deal.

Useful Tips to Choose a Concealer

Typically, women use concealers to cover darker facial areas; for this purpose, the concealer should be one shade lighter than the foundation. Only in very unique cases should you choose concealers that are two shades lighter.

If you have dry skin and also suffer from dark circles under your eyes, then choose a liquid concealer so that you can nicely camouflage those unwanted dark areas without further dehydrating your skin. Combine these creamy concealers with a cream-to-powder foundation; this is the ideal combination for dry skin.

Choose a concealer according to your skin tone. During summer, your skin is prone to suntan so you will need to alter the shade of concealer to match your darker skin color. Generally, a yellow-based concealer suits all skin types, unlike green, white, or pink ones.

There are many types of concealers. Some are produced oil-free, while others contain mineral oils and pigments. Concealers are also produced in a variety of forms like tubes, sticks, and creams. Check concealers for their credibility and use only those tested and approved by ophthalmologists.

You may need to experiment with a few before you find the right one for your skin.

Apply a translucent powder base that will help the concealer set and prevent creasing.

To derive the maximum benefit, go for one that offers many facilities in one pack. For example, filters, especially soft-focus ones, help cover fine lines and creases. You can even try applying layers of concealers rather than depending on one single shade. However, avoid applying heavy formulations of concealers; otherwise, it will look like you are wearing a mask.

Avoid choosing opaque formulations since they fail to provide that extra zing or shine to your face. To get fuller satisfaction from concealers, apply a foundation that goes well with the neighboring areas like face, neck, and chest. This will give a natural look to your makeup.

Even after analyzing concealers in detail, you may still feel a little overwhelmed and confused by all the different issues involved in concealers and foundations. You can then opt to go with a more direct solution to minimize dark circles.

You can then choose to go for a more exclusive treatment like Eyederma(tm) cream. I understand Eyederma(tm) was created by its makers to specifically nurture eyes suffering from dark circles and puffiness.

I think you should seriously look into this product if you don't want your beauty concealed by dark circles under your eyes. To find out more about Eyederma(tm), search for it at fine online stores like Amazon.com or the BODeStore.com (http://www.BODeStore.com).

The Latest In Skin Care Treatments
The Latest In Skin Care Treatments
With people all worried about their appearances, the skin care treatment industry has become a worldwide moneymaker, earning billions of dollars each year from people across all demographics.

Microdermabrasion

This is one of the most popular surgical and laser treatment in the country. It improves the skin tone of the body and brings back its luster. Microdermabrasion also helps in getting rid of superficial scars from acne.

For some, a total of six peelings are needed to achieve the best results. Others can get away with less depending on the condition of the skin. Often the procedure is done every one to two weeks. It makes use of aluminum crystals that create a micro-dermabrasion effect that helps peel the skin.

Although the skin is the most common area treated by the procedure, it is also done on the neck, chest, arms, hands or any area that are damaged by the sun. It is also used for skins with irregular pigmentation such as sun spots and melasma; those with irregular and rough skin; and even those with some wrinkles and stretch marks.

Effects of the procedure is said to better than those seen in glycolic acid peels. Another advantage is the longer healing and recovery time compared to other procedures. There is also a shorter treatment time as well very minimal discomfort. It is also said to be very safe for all skin types as well as all races.

Although it is less expensive, it can be expensive on the long run as it requires multiple treatments. So, before having yourself treated, make sure that you have already determined the total cost.

Photorejuvenation

This is another skin treatment in the country. Through the use of laser or broadband light, mild acne scarring can be improved by causing a new layer of collagen to form on the skin. Often, this procedure will require five to six treatments that are performed every three to four weeks.

Scar Revision

This is a surgical procedure conducted to remove acne scars, especially the ice pick and box cars, which are pretty deep. An excision is made during the procedure through a punch. This hole is then closed with sutures that are often about seven days later.

Another technique used in this procedure is the subcision, which uses a sharp instrument to undercut the scar being treated.

Laser Treatments

Other forms of skin treatments are the Laser resurfacing (CO2 laser, Erbium Yag laser);

Pulsed dye laser and Laser skin resurfacing.

Makeup Secrets
Makeup Secrets
Makeup secrets to correct the most common problems

1. A secret to liven up dull, lifeless skin.

2. A trick for correcting acne, eye rings and skin blemishes.

3. An easy guide to knowing what skin-type you have

4. Tricks for making yourself up in 10 minutes

1. A secret to liven up dull, lifeless skin.

Though it may seem complicated; with a few quick steps your skin can change in a matter of seconds.

Three basic steps ;

1. Cleansing

Cleanse your face with your usual make-up remover and finish cleansing by rinsing your whole face in cold water

2. Exfoliation

Apply an exfoliating face pack over the whole face, not forgetting the neck, and avoiding the eye and lip areas (Follow the product-specific instructions), later remove the face pack with water and pat the face dry, without rubbing.

3. Moisturising

First apply a moisturising tonic if your skin is dry or normal, and a descaling cleansing tonic if your skin is combination or greasy. Apply it over totally dry skin with a cotton pad in small touches without spreading it, so as not to irritate the skin.

Apply eye contour treatment if you need it, or if you normally use it.

Apply a moisturising serum for your skin-type (this is normally sold in ampoules at the chemist’s. Most make-up brands also produce different serums according to skin type)

Finally, apply the moisturising cream over the whole face, once the serum has been properly absorbed.

THE KEY STEP: The most important step here is the exfoliation, as skin normally appears dull and lifeless when there are dead skin cells that need removing. You should do the cleansing and moisturising steps daily (except for the serum which would be for specific occasions, according to the indications on the product used).

2. A trick for correcting acne, eye rings and skin blemishes.

The corrector/concealer is the star product here, but if you don’t have one, we are adding a trick to be able to use foundation instead of corrector.

Eye rings

Apply foundation the way you normally would (foundation should be liquid or in a cream texture) once you are done, apply the foundation with a synthetic-hair brush, once again on the eye ring region. When you finish, using a large powder puff, apply a little loose powder that is lighter than your makeup base. Apply the powder in small touches and in tiny quantities, so as not to produce folds in such a delicate area.

For acne or facial blemishes

Just as in the last step, but in the area you need to correct, here the powder you apply should be the same tone as the foundation, or totally transparent.

With this step what you have done is concentrate the foundation over the area to be corrected. Of course, the ideal thing is to use a specific corrector for eye rings, and another specific one for acne (there are brands that do acne correctors which treat as well as correct) in this case you can follow the same steps, and use corrector instead of the foundation, and you’ll see how much better the result is than when you use corrector alone.

3. An easy guide to knowing what skin-type you have

These are the most common skin types; pay attention to the characteristics of each, and identify your skin type. The best thing is always to consult a dermatologist or aesthetician.

DRY SKIN

The skin feels dry and tight.

Wrinkles appear easily, and it has no grease unless you moisturise.

Dry skin normally has a soft aspect, with small pores. It’s uncommon for it to have blackheads or zits.

Dryness may increase or decrease depending on the environment, the weather, computers, air conditioning.

One way of determining the skin’s dryness is to take it between thumb and fingers, pushing it up and then letting it go. If it snaps back to place immediately, then it’s sufficiently moisturised, if there is a little delay, then it needs moisturising.

To keep this skin soft and smooth, you need highly moisturising products, products with nutrients, moisturising face packs and eye contour treatment for day and night. Soaps should be avoided as they tend to dry up the skin. The same goes for products that contain alcohol.

NORMAL SKIN

Normal skin is neither greasy nor dry, and tends not to have zits.

The skin is perfect and appears fresh and smooth. This perfect-looking skin has small pores, and can be a little greasier in the T zone. This skin-type is not very common among adults, but can be found among almost all children.

People with this skin-type should use products specially for normal-to-sensitive skin in order to maintain this type of skin. They should avoid products that contain alcohol.

COMBINATION SKIN

Combination skin has a greasy area: the T zone, and is normal over the cheeks and neck. One needs to choose products very carefully. Moisturising a lot, and avoid drying the skin, putting a particular emphasis on cleanliness.

GREASY SKIN

Greasy skin tends to appear dull, and have blackheads. This skin is constantly producing grease. Greasy skin keeps young for longer. This skin type should be treated with specific, oil-free products but that should be sufficiently moisturising. Besides this, cleansing should be done with cleansing face packs, together with other products for greasy-skin care. The quality of this type of skin will vary from one day to the next, depending on external factors such as tobacco, stress, weather, food, etc.

SENSITIVE SKIN

Irritated blood vessels below the skin are typical in sensitive skin. Skin often feels dry and gets irritated very easily. Perfumed products and soaps can irritate this type of skin. Even products specially designed for sensitive skin can cause inflammation. The only way to find the right kind of product for it is to try them out beforehand. Products should be tried out on the inside of the arm, as any potential reaction will not be as strong here as on the face. Sensitive skin is most common among blonde or red-haired people.

Recommended products for this skin-type are gentle and very moisturising ones. Avoid very perfumed products or those that contain alcohol. Sensitive skin should not be overly exposed to the sun or to very warm temperatures.

4. Tricks for making yourself up in 10 minutes

These are the steps to follow once the skin is totally clean and moist:

Apply corrector in the areas that need it

Put the foundation on

Put the rouge on

Put on eye pencil

Put on mascara

Put on lip pencil

Put on lip gloss or balm

And that’s it. You’ll be completely made up and with a natural and pleasant aspect.

And yes, this make up should last all day, except of course on your lips, and besides, it should take you no more than 10 minutes to put on.

Below we describe each step:

-Apply corrector where necessary

This step should take a few seconds, and the difference between doing it and not doing it can be significant.

Those among you with perfect skin can avoid it, and just use it as an illuminator.

I recommend using it before foundation, although there are products on the market which are meant to be used afterwards; it doesn’t matter, as the question is to correct these areas.

The key thing here is to use the corrector in the areas where the foundation will not be able to unify the tone: a zit, a very noticeable eye ring. Once you are through you can switch to putting on the foundation.

Put on the foundation

Use a make-up sponge (with or without latex, according to preference and skin type) and moisten it (just lightly) so as to be able to spread it more quickly (naturally, I am referring here to liquid or cream foundation, which are the easiest and quickest to put on).

For the liquid version, apply some on the upper part of your left hand (or the other way round if you are left-handed), and dab the liquid foundation lightly with the dampened sponge, but don’t pick it all up.

Start to apply the foundation from the forehead towards the sides, next from the nose towards either side, then the chin towards either side and upwards, and lastly the neck and the ears, if you are short-haired.

Once your whole face is made up, with another part of the sponge, go over the areas where you can see too much make-up, and spread it in small upward strokes.

Put more emphasis on the areas that need correction most, for instance on the outer corner of the eye (this tends to go red) on the nostrils and around the lips.

Applying rouge

This is the easiest bit. Use a tone that flatters you and apply it on the cheekbone and on the mobile eyelid with a rouge brush, blending well so that it ends up looking natural, with a loose powder brush, or using the same rouge brush but with no product on.

That's it. You can go to the next step now.

Applying eye pencil

This step is a perfect trick if you have few eyelashes or want to make them look thicker than they are.

Sharpen the pencil, and for daytime makeup use one in dark brown or grey (for it to look more natural) and apply it in small touches (not in a line) among the lashes on the mobile lid, avoiding the tear duct area, and end up three or four lashes short of where the eye ends.

The idea is that it look like we have more lashes, not like we are wearing mascara.

If it is too noticeable, its because you have put too much product on. Don’t worry: just blend it out with a fine brush or a Q-tip.

Applying mascara

This is an indispensable step in make-up. I know that many of you don’t like mascara because you’ve got to remove it later, it runs, etc. The truth is that, yes, obviously you have to remove it in the end, but if you use a good mascara (for daytime it needn’t be water-resistant: normal ones come off easily) as well as protecting your eyelashes all day, it’ll come off when removed.

A good trick is to always do the lower lashes first, to avoid staining the upper eyelid. Apply the mascara in zigzag fashion, then apply the mascara on the upper lashes, firstly downwards, then upwards. You needn’t put on too much mascara, as this is daytime make-up.

You can use a dark brown mascara but as we are using so little colour in the face, I recommend the black, unless you’re a very light-blue-eyed blonde.

Applying lipstick

Although this is basic daytime makeup, I recommend not to forget the lips. If you’ve paid attention, you’ll have noticed that at no time did I say that I recommend making the lips up with foundation , since, the way I see it, foundation on the lips does not look very natural.

Use a pencil very close in tone to your lip, tending towards the pink but with brown pigments, outline the lips and put some inside the lips also. This way it’ll last you a lot longer and you won’t need to use lipstick unless you so desire.

Apply gloss or balm

The pencil will normally tend to dry a bit, and to blend the colour in you’ll need a little gloss or balm, which one is up to you; balm is more moisturising and natural, and gloss makes your lips thicker and more juicy.

Final touch

Apply an illuminator (or if you don’t have one, a bit of white, semi-pearl powder will do) in the space below the eyebrow , at the top of the cheekbone, and on the chin, so as to light up the face in a very natural manner, making you look spectacular.

Oily Skin Care Tips
Oily Skin Care Tips
The sebaceous glands, located in the dermis (middle layer) produces oil which helps to keep the skin supple and moist. So oil production in the skin is completely natural With that said, however, the sebaceous glands can produce excessive oil which leads to oily skin. Oily skin is not only located on the face but the neck, arms, shoulders and back can be oily too.

How Do You Know If You Have Oily Skin?

Nearly all teenagers have oily skin because their hormone production is in full bloom. For those who are no longer teenagers, determining whether your skin is oily or not is easy to do. When you look in the mirror is there a sheen on your skin? Check your T-Zone which is located starting at the point between your eyes and goes vertically down your nose to your chin. (The T-Zone also goes horizontally across your nose, beginning and stopping at the center point below your eye.) Your sheen may be unnoticeable during the day, so you want to check again immediately after waking in the morning. If there is a sheen, you probably have oily skin.

Look at your hair while standing in front of the mirror. If it is oily, this is another sign that you most likely have oily skin. If your make up fades and wears off after only a couple of hours, this is also an indicator of oily skin. In addition, frequently patting your face with a handkerchief or powder is another indicator. Although sometimes caused by stress and other factors, the presence of blemishes is also a sign of oily skin.

Caring for Oily Skin

You may feel that the best way to treat oily skin is to remove the oil that is clogging your pores. Removing all the oil is not the answer. The oils produced by your sebaceous glands are a natural moisturizer which helps to keep you skin supple and moist. So rather than removing the oil, you should try to keep it under control.

It’s important that you keep your skin clean so that your pores remain clear. If not, dead cells, dirt and bacteria will clog your pores and cause pimples to pop up. DO NOT use harsh soaps to strip away oil. Your glands will instinctively replenish lost oil and will increase their oil production. This could make your problem worse.

Your skin is delicate so you should use a gentle cleanser and warm water. Weekly exfoliation with a non-abrasive product will help to remove pore clogging material. Use a toner that does not contain alcohol and moisturize in moderation. Make sure your cosmetics and sun screen are oil free.

Dry Winter Skin: How to Deal with it
Dry Winter Skin: How to Deal with it
Feeling like a refrigerated raisin is often not the best way to enjoy the winter season and the joyous holidays that accompany it. Here are some tips on how to deal with dry winter skin.

Your skin in winter can become dry to the point of being painful. I myself began feeling the effects of the cooler weather in early October. My lips became tender and chapped, and I had to switch to a different formula of daily facial cleanser because the exfoliating beads in my current cleanser were irritating my skin. I’ll have to limit my daily exfoliation to just twice a week. Also my hands and feet became very dry.

Indoors you’re subjected to dry heat and outdoors you’re bombarded with harsh winter UV rays from the sun and chilling winds. Yes, the sun’s rays are still just as dangerous as in summer and they will reflect off any snowy surfaces, bouncing the rays right back on to you. You’re going to need a good facial moisturizer with SPF in it.

Here are some more tips to help you combat dry winter skin:

Use a lip balm (preferably with SPF) and do not lick your lips under any circumstances. That just makes it worse. Keep your hands moisturized with a good quality hand cream.

Drink plenty of water and limit your alcohol intake. Alcohol is a dehydrator.

Buy a humidifier if you don’t already have one. It may help keep your heating bills down as well. You know, the whole heat and humidity thing. Think Amazon rainforest.

Use a shower filter. It will filter out the skin-drying chlorine in your tap water. Avoid hot water even though it feels good on a cold winter morning. It will only strip your skin of its natural oils and cause water to evaporate more quickly. Also, it pays to switch from soap which can dry the skin, to a silky body wash which will help your skin retain moisture. Pat your skin dry when exiting the shower, don’t rub. Apply a nice moisturizer to help seal in moisture.

When the humidity drops to 50 percent or less, you will need to pay even more attention to your moisturization routine. Stay away from harsh scrubs or cleansers since they will eliminate most of the skin’s oils and dry your skin out more easily. This applies to skin care products as well as cleaning products.

My favorite winter skin care tip is before you go to bed, apply a thick, rich moisturizer to your feet, concentrating on the heel area. Then put on a nice cushy pair of socks. When you wake up your feet will be soft and smooth and well-hydrated.

Not paying attention to extremely dry skin can lead to health issues and act as a welcome mat for rashes and skin infections. So take good care of your skin and enjoy your winter!

Essential Skincare And Makeup For Travel
Essential Skincare And Makeup For Travel
ESSENTIAL SKINCARE AND MAKEUP PRODUCTS YOU SHOULD HAVE WHEN YOU TRAVEL

Are you going on a trip and want to know what beauty and make up basics you will need to pack –and those you won’t?

FACIAL CARE

Remember the basics:
* Make up remover
* Tonic
* Eye contour gel/cream
* Moisturizer

Tip: Use small containers or travel-sized products so that everything will fit into your hand held toiletry bag….there are also many brands which currently produce tiny travel make up kits. Treat yourself to one! They are normally quite cheap …

BODY CARE

Essentials;
* Body moisturizing cream
* Exfoliant

Tip: Get hold of a pair of exfoliating gloves for your body, they are very easy to acquire and work really well. Aside from this they aren’t heavy to carry, they don’t wear out, and they work wonders to eliminate all the dead cells, leaving the skin smooth…

MAKE UP

Essentials:
* Corrector
* Foundation
* Powder (if your skin is combination or greasy)
* Neutral shadow for daytime
* Shadow for partying –remember it’s Christmas!
* Light shadow
* Black pencil (it can get you out of a corner if you happen to want to replenish your make up and you haven’t got a dark shadow with you: you can use the pencil as shadow and then spread it with a brush)
* Mascara
* Rosy or earthy rouge
* Your favourite lipstick
* Transparent gloss
* Colored lip pencil, so that if you feel like making your lips up a little more on day, you can use the pencil and the gloss over it and there you have it: a new lipstick color! Besides the pencil weighs little.
* Illuminator. Don’t forget to bring the illuminator. Use it for the party make up….

HAIR

* Bring a hair pack. You’re sure to need one …
* If your hair is difficult to manage or sensitive, bring your treatment with you. The shampoos in hotels tend to be for normal hair.

NAILS

Don’t forget ….
* Nail file. They always break when you’re away.
* Transparent or ivory varnish
* Colored varnish, if you normally use this

FOR EMERGENCIES

* Bath salts. A holiday is an ideal time to relax in a bathtub.
* Face pack. Make the best of the little extra time you have while on holiday and look after yourself…
* Beauty flash or shock treatment to be stunning. Bring it in single doses so it weighs less.

I’m off on holiday to a warm place …

To relax, enjoy the sun and the hot weather, a great way to unwind….But –what do I pack in my suitcase?....

FACIAL CARE

The same essentials as for a trip to cold climes, and:
* Moisturizing cream with high factor sun block
* Facial sun block.
* After sun cream

BODY CARE

The same essentials as for a trip to cold climes, and:
* Sun block for the level of protection you need. Remember that it is very important to protect yourself from the sun.
* Ultra moisturizing cream for after-sun, and to calm the skin
* Moisturizing cream with a touch of illuminator-why not? It’s hot and you’re sun-tanned, so bring out your tan …

MAKE UP

The same essentials as for a trip to cold climes, but:
* Switch your foundation for a tanning powder. Give yourself a few touches with the brush and you’ll see how your face instantly acquires a healthy look.
* Forget dark colors for shadows, and select some light, luminous ones
* Go for lip glosses. These look good in hot climes…

HAIR

The same essentials as for a trip to cold climes, but:
* The hair pack should contain after-sun treatment.

NAILS
The same essentials as for a trip to cold climes, but:

* Take the opportunity to paint your toenails
* Paint your toenails in striking colors

FOR EMERGENCIES

The same essentials as for the cold, and also:
* Moisturizing face pack. When we sunbathe, the skin dries up. Remember to bring a face pack and take this opportunity to relax …see how grateful your skin will be.
