1. Keep it Simple. Leave all of the full size bottles and containers at home. Try searching the internet for trial and travel size toiletries. Use products that travel well and are space savers. 6. Neat Nails Reign. Always travel with an emery board. Sharp, pointed and metallic files are best left at home. Keep polish plain and in neutral tones. If the polish is neutral it does not show chips as easily. Ladies, there are even dry polish strips available that travel well and no need to worry about the messy bottle. Nice hands speak volumes to your clients.

7. Lighten Your Hair Load. Find a hair style that requires little maintenance. Experiment with different lengths to find out what works best for you. One of the problems with long hair is how hard it is for your hair’s natural oils to get all the way down to the ends. You can help your hair feel great with a good conditioner, but oil can be really helpful.

My personal preference is to use jojoba oil. I buy it at my local natural foods store. I like to scent it with a bit of lavender oil too, since I love that scent.

It takes very, very little oil to do the job. My hair copes pretty well with being long, so I find I do best by only oiling the last few inches. If I do much more, my hair shortly looks oily, and that’s not the look I’m after.

I added the lavender oil to the jojoba before using it, right in the bottle.

The thing to remember is that you hardly need any oil at all. Put a drop or two in your palm, rub your hands together and stroke your hair smoothly between your hands. Just on the ends, as I said before. It really doesn’t take a lot.

If you need extra help for all your hair, try oiling the entire length of your hair before bed, and wash it out in the morning. This will give the oil time to soak in.

Of course, jojoba isn’t the only oil that works well. Coconut oil is quite popular, although it has a stronger scent. Some use olive oil straight from the kitchen cabinet. If you aren’t sure about putting oil in your hair, you can start with that, but a lighter oil really is better in the long run.

What does the oil do for you? It keeps your hair moist and flexible, so it doesn’t break so easily. If you want your hair to grow long, that’s vital.

If you do choose add a scent to your oil, make sure it is one that is safe for your hair. Some essential oils are really not good for your hair.

Oiling your long hair is one of those things where you’ll feel the difference in the texture of your hair quickly, but it will take time to see a difference in how long it grows. After all, it takes a long time for hair to grow. But if you’re serious about having really long hair, it’s an easy step to add to your routine.

1. Test the strength of your hair by pulling a strand taut between your fingers. If it snaps easily it has probably been damaged. Be cautious with the use of hair dryers and heating appliances and use a heat-protective product first.

2. For a light, natural looking finish when using hair spray on fine hair, apply the hair spray to the hairbrush, then brush through the hair thus ensuring even distribution.

3. Use a range of volumizing products to build volume into fine, flyaway hair. A volumizing shampoo can do so much, but using a volumizing shampoo, conditioner and styling spray can make a huge difference.

4. Avoid hair frizzing by not brushing your hair when wet. Only use the brush when your hair is somewhere between damp and dry. Then use the blow dryer and a round brush until it is styled and completely dry.

As it can be difficult to approximate how many minutes, try and have a clock visible so a full 5 minutes is given for the ingredients in the conditioner to do their work. 6. When blow-drying the hair, divide the hair into three or four sections. Clip unwanted sections out of the way to allow you to concentrate on one section at a time. Trying to cope with the whole head at once can be difficult.

Instead of going to sleep, the vast majority of today's working professionals select to do something else, like watching TV until the early morning hours instead of sleeping properly, due to stress and anxiety problems. But, one should keep in mind that sleep is a necessity, not a luxury. Having a good night's sleep is just as crucial to maintaining wellness as is following a healthy diet and performing the proper amount of exercise.

Apart from being a healing process, sleep is also an invigorating one. Researchers examining the human brain while asleep have found that it is cycling through three stages of sleep; light, deep and REM. During these stages the human organism gets restored, it rejuvenates and it also becomes stronger. In addition, the human immune system gets recharged, as cells grow and repair themselves, and the human body conserves energy that will be needed later while a person is again awake.

Unfortunately, due to the heavy schedules and the daily problems people have to face, many do not value their bodies' sleeping needs. Nowadays, as everything stays open later than in the past, many individuals select to sacrifice their night's sleep for another dance at the local club, a late-night movie, a work project due or a few more hours of exercise in the gym. - Go to bed and wake up the same time every day. When your sleep cycle has a regular rhythm you will feel better.

The kids are headed back to school and it feels like you should have a lot of extra time on your hands. Why aren’t you able to accomplish all that needs to be done? Time management is a big struggle no matter what stage of life you’re in. As work at home moms, it is even more important that we manage our time wisely. Below are five tips on how you can accomplish more during the time the kids are in school.

1. Set your priorities – It’s important to map out not only what needs to be accomplished during the time that you have allotted each day, but also what things are most important. Make a list of the tasks that need to be accomplished and then rank them according to deadline, desire to complete, etc. Keep in mind that the more you can do while the kids are in school, the more time you’ll have with them the rest of the day. If at all possible, make time with you spouse and children the center of your day and try to work around it.

2. Schedule your time – Now that you know what order your list needs to be accomplished in, take the time to write out a schedule of how and when you will complete each item. This will give you a tangible way to see your progress each day. Your schedule doesn’t need to be set in stone - it needs to be somewhat flexible so that it doesn’t become burdensome. Having a plan of action will help you avoid distractions and accomplish more during the time you have available.

3. Delegate – Whenever possible, delegate tasks that can be accomplished by others. Have your kids stuff envelopes, have hubby print out business cards for you, and if you have a virtual assistant (VA), allow them to do some of the online work or phone calls for you. The best thing I’ve done for my business this last year is to hire a virtual assistant. She is fast, efficient and saves me a lot of time. I can be working with clients and making sales while she handles my article distribution and other tasks. The time saved is well worth the money spent.

4. Let the phone ring – Customer service is one of the most important parts of running a home-based business. Being available for your customers and being willing to answer questions is what will set you apart from the many other businesses out there. However, if you are working to accomplish a task that is important to your business it may be necessary to allow the phone to ring and the answering machine to handle some calls. I’m not suggesting that you ignore your customers, but that you use your answering machine for what it is – a message service. By knowing who has called and what they need, you can call your customers back when you have time to work with them without feeling rushed. Also, by knowing what your customers need before your speak with them you can make preparations ahead of time, thus spending less time on the phone and saving both yourself and customer time.

5. Take a Break – One of the biggest mistakes of work-at-home moms is to work too much. Because we are building our own businesses we feel that we will not succeed unless we’re working – or at least thinking about work twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. This simply isn’t true. Taking care of yourself is one of the best things that you can do for your business. Focusing on something other than your business can give you clarity and help you avoid burn-out.

Running a home-based business while your children are in school is possible, but it does take efficiency and organization. It’s very important that you set your priorities and your schedule your time in a way that is flexible and that allows you to get the most accomplished in the time that you have available. Don’t get discouraged if it seems like you’re not accomplishing much some days. Rest, go easy on yourself and do your best.

With people all worried about their appearances, the skin care treatment industry has become a worldwide moneymaker, earning billions of dollars each year from people across all demographics.

Microdermabrasion

This is one of the most popular surgical and laser treatment in the country. It improves the skin tone of the body and brings back its luster. Microdermabrasion also helps in getting rid of superficial scars from acne.

For some, a total of six peelings are needed to achieve the best results. Others can get away with less depending on the condition of the skin. Often the procedure is done every one to two weeks. It makes use of aluminum crystals that create a micro-dermabrasion effect that helps peel the skin.

Although the skin is the most common area treated by the procedure, it is also done on the neck, chest, arms, hands or any area that are damaged by the sun. It is also used for skins with irregular pigmentation such as sun spots and melasma; those with irregular and rough skin; and even those with some wrinkles and stretch marks.

Effects of the procedure is said to better than those seen in glycolic acid peels. Another advantage is the longer healing and recovery time compared to other procedures. Photorejuvenation

This is another skin treatment in the country. Through the use of laser or broadband light, mild acne scarring can be improved by causing a new layer of collagen to form on the skin. Often, this procedure will require five to six treatments that are performed every three to four weeks.

Scar Revision

This is a surgical procedure conducted to remove acne scars, especially the ice pick and box cars, which are pretty deep. An excision is made during the procedure through a punch. This hole is then closed with sutures that are often about seven days later.

Another technique used in this procedure is the subcision, which uses a sharp instrument to undercut the scar being treated.

Pulsed dye laser and Laser skin resurfacing.

ABCs for the Work at Home Mom – Part 2
Work-at-home moms face many different challenges. From learning to accept help when needed, to building confidence in ourselves, to remembering the reasons why we chose to work from home. Below is the second in the series of tips to help work-at-home moms in the simplest of ways – the ABC’s.

N = No - Work at Home Moms need to be able to say "No" when the situation calls for it. Don't be afraid to stand up for your business or to choose NOT to work with a customer who is more trouble than it's worth.

O = Office - As Work at Home Moms, we usually put ourselves last on the list. However, when we're in business it's important to have some room (even a corner) that is set aside strictly for business.

P = Priorities - It's hard to keep your priorities straight when raising a family and building a business. Take some time each week/month to sit down and evaluate your priorities and cut out things in your schedule that don't fit in.

Q = Quiet Time - It may seem impossible to find a time to sit, relax and be quiet when you have so many demands on your time. However, it's more important than ever that you take a little time for yourself to rejuvenate and renew when you grow weary.

R = Respect - Like the golden rule says, it's important to treat others as we'd like to be treated. This is so true for work at home moms - we must show the utmost in professionalism and treat even the most difficult clients with respect.

S = Significant Other - As work at home moms it's easy to get wrapped up with our business, our kids, ourselves. Don't forget to take the time to appreciate your husbands!

T = Time - As work-home-moms time is the ultimate enemy. :) Learn to prioritize and delegate whenever possible. Take time out for your kids each day - you'll be glad you did!

U = Unique - Your business needs to be unique to stand out from the crowd. Even if your product isn't unique you can always find a unique way to approach marketing, customer service, etc. Get creative and stand out from the rest!

V = Vision - It's so important to have a clear vision of where you want your business to go. Sit down and make a list of where you'd like to be in 5 years, in 10 years, etc. Without goals you won't get anywhere.

W = Wisdom - It's important to seek wisdom when running your own business. You won't always know the answer, so you need to find others that you trust that you can turn to when these things arise.

X = eXcitement - Celebrate each success! Keep yourself motivated and excited about your business. Try to share your business with someone new each day. Just telling someone about what you do can bring back that "spark" of excitement about your career!

Y = Yes - Yes! You CAN do it! Each of us started with a dream, a vision and the faith that we could make it happen. It takes hard work, determination and a "Yes!" attitude, but it CAN be done!

Z = Zoo - Yes, life as a work at home mom really is a zoo, but it's worth it! Being at home to see your child's first step, hear their first word - it just doesn't get better than that.

Working from home can be difficult, but it is well worth the effort. By keeping things in perspective we can reduce the stress that we put on ourselves. Remember these ABC’s and you’ll go far in your work-at-home career.

Is Beauty Past 40 Possible?
Is beauty past the age of 40 possible? Of course it is; why do you ask? My guess is that you’re a woman in your 40’s (or perhaps approaching 40) and you’ve recently noticed some changes in your physical appearance. Maybe you’ve gained some weight, or perhaps you’re starting to notice fine lines around your eyes and mouth. The skin on your chest, arms or legs appears thinner and perhaps has the consistency of crepe paper. In addition to the changes in your physical appearance, you may have also noticed that you’re more easily tired out than you were a few years ago.

So now you’re wondering if you’ll ever be able to re-gain a youthful appearance. Well, that’s up to you; if you have no desire to put forth a little effort so that you will feel and look both young and energized, the answer is probably “no.” If, however, you badly want to feel and look your very best during this next phase of your life, and you’re willing to make a few lifestyle changes, then yes – most definitely – you will re-gain your youthful appearance and have the energy you had a few years prior.

The first step to a healthier, happier and more beautiful you is making an attitude adjustment, if necessary. It’s important to realize that you can be anything you want, and age shouldn’t be a deterrent; know that you’re a capable and mature woman whose goals can be accomplished if you’re determined enough to make some necessary changes.

If your goal is to lose weight, it’s crucial that you understand the link between physical activity and weight loss. You see, cutting calories is no longer enough to have a lean, toned and healthy body. This is due to the fact that as you get older, your body is working hard to convert your consumed calories into fat to make up for the declining levels of estrogen you’re experiencing as you approach menopause. You absolutely need muscle to burn calories and gain some tone, therefore, it is a necessity to exercise regularly, incorporating weight training into your workout routine.

If you’re feeling sluggish, no doubt exercise is going to give you so very much energy, but it’s also important to treat your body well by consuming foods that are healthy, such as fruits, dark leafy green vegetables and whole grains. Avoid white rice, potatoes and white bread, which can result in additional fat accumulation.

By treating your body well – through exercise and diet – your skin will also benefit and won’t sag quite as much as you begin to build muscle. As for the fine lines you may be noticing, there are so very many products available that will easily reduce the appearance of wrinkles, without necessitating the need for surgical or cosmetic procedures.

You see, you need not accept some of the changes that naturally occur as you get older. It is up to you to take care of your body, and by doing so you will be happy, healthy, fit and beautiful. I know from personal experience that anything is possible if you’re determined enough. Use your maturity – and the confidence that comes with it – to your advantage by accomplishing those goals which you set for yourself.

Is Being a WAHM For You?
Working from home can be a scary thing. Going through the motions to get to that point can be even scarier! A ton of questions go through your mind- Can we make it on one income if or until my business takes off? Can I focus enough to get a business off the ground? Am I qualified for what I want to pursue? What kind of business do I want to get into? What if I fail?- These are very scary things. Of course compounded by the fact that you have children to provide for and to complete the circle of these thoughts, the whole reason you are even going through this is so that you can be there for your children.

It is a doable process and is a rewarding venture once you know how to start and accomplish your goal.

First and foremost, I have to stress networking and support!! Those are two words that should not be far from a work at home mom’s mind. Not only in your professional life but your personal life as well, these two things are essential. You will find that once you are a work at home mom, your professional and personal lives get somewhat blurred together at times, even more reason to keep those two words close at all times.

Support- Having a support team is one of the first steps in my mind because #1, you will feel more at ease as you go through the rest of the steps and #2, you need to know that as you get further down this path, you will not be alone.- Is your spouse on board with you? Have you spoken about the financial cuts this may bring to your family? Is it understood that you will have to invest time in your new venture? That you may have to invest money? Have you discussed the possibility of being away from home on evenings and weekends if you are going into a business that requires you to give home parties? Have you spoke about the fact that though you may be home during the day, you are still working and need support with the household as you would if you were working outside the home?- Do you have friends or family who are willing to step in once in a while with childcare? Do you have someone to lean on when you are frustrated or feel like giving up? Are your friends and family behind you in your venture? Will they understand that what you are trying to do is hard work, deserves the respect of a work outside the home job and that you are in no way taking the easy road? Do they know your reasons for working from home? These may seem like negative, harsh thoughts but they are all things I have encountered over the years with women who wish to work from home or start their own business. Essentially, you are not doing this alone and you need to have a solid support foundation under you.

Networking- For me, networking is an extension of support. It can mean different things in different situations. You want to get a solid foundation of networking underneath you. In this case, women in your situation on all levels. Women who have made it successfully to a comfortable spot with their business, women who are just starting out and women who are still on their journey to success. It is amazing how much you can learn from another woman who is where you are or was where you are. Women seem to be afraid to network, I guess it is in our nature. Afraid of competition, afraid our ideas may get stolen or afraid you will not measure up. I was once there. I avoided networking and support groups like the plague. But you get to a point where you realize you NEED this foundation. It was like a breath of fresh air when I finally took the step toward building my networking base. I found that contrary to my beliefs at the time, women are awesome at motivating, supporting, inspiring other women and are great at getting the word out for each other. I have made many great friends and business connections by opening up my mind and giving my time to other women in business. It is a step that is essential to your success. So where do you start? Get online! Join a yahoo group, there are a ton of wahm and women in business groups. Go to Google and type in key words like wahm, women in business, wahm resources, wahm advertising, wahm blogs, you will find a whole world you had no idea existed! The wahm world is a huge network of blogs, resource websites, advertising websites, radio broadcasts, retail stores, ezines, newsletters and more! Get involved! Join your local chamber of commerce, find other women in your area who own shops or sell for direct sales companies, joinan expo or home show. There are endless ways to find other women to add to your networking group. The key here is that you find them and you listen to your instincts when adding them to your networking round table. Not all women get along, not all women are right for each other’s networking group, you need to be comfortable with the people you surround yourself with. This is not to say that anyone is a bad person, you just need to surround yourself with people you can get along with, open up to and be able to trust. Don’t give away all your trade secrets but have a group (even just one or two people) you can go to to bounce ideas off of, get help when you are in a rut, people who will advertise for each other, do a favor to help out your business, things that will help all involved.

Research- I think that this is the step we as women have the hardest time with. We want to work at home, we want to do it now and we run with that. Taking the time to research is something I did not do enough of. I learned from trial and error. That method taught me a lot and I would probably not change how I learned but I like to put this step in to help save other women the frustrations I encountered. When you are deciding if you should be a wahm and what kind of work you should do, research!! Do you want to go into direct sales? Do you want to run an affiliate website? Do you want to start your own online business selling items you make? Do you want to open an online shop using a drop shipper? Do you want to do other work such as typing or data entry from home? Do you have a talent or degree in graphic or web design or marketing? Get online, go to Google or Ask.com and plug in some key words, read as much of what comes up as you can. I have gone as far as 32 pages into s search reading and taking all I could from other sites. I have checked the page ranks of other wahm sites, I have looked at who advertises with them, how many hits they have gotten, the whole nine yards. I have taken bits and pieces of knowledge from hours and hours of just looking at what other people have done and then translating it into what I have wanted to get across. I have not copied other women, just noted what they have done that has worked or not worked. I have read articles and e-books, blogs and group postings. I have taken in all that I can in the wahm world and there is still so much I have not gotten to yet! Talk with other women who are doing what you want to do. Find out their obstacles, their challenges, their accomplishments. If you find a company you want to work for, research them until you can’t read any more! I am telling you, Google is my best friend some days! I use it all the time! Keep a binder of information that you want to refer to later, bookmark sites you have taken inspiration from or would like to learn more from. Do all you can to get as much information about the path you want to take. Then decide whether it is right for you or not.

Realism- I like to include this step because it is one we tend to side step. I never had any focus on the “what-ifs” because that was just not positive and I did not want to get myself down. Then reality hit. It is so important to keep a positive attitude, don’t get me wrong, you can not be successful without it but it is also important to keep perspective about things. Chances are, you are not going to be a huge success off the bat. It does happen from time to time and that is awesome but don’t get discouraged or beat yourself up if it does not happen. It is not realistic to go into the path of being a wahm with the idea that your business will take off, you will be rich and life is going to be a piece of cake from then on. It is a lot of work to work from home and run a successful business whether it is working for a direct sales company or starting a business from scratch. It takes determination, willingness to accept defeat from time to time and a whole lot of “You Go, Girl!”. Chances are, you will not succeed at your first attempts. Great, you have learned what not to do and what to do better and you go again. You may have chosen a direct sales company that is not right for you after all. Okay, move on to another. You may have started with one plan for your business and ended up with something totally different. Kudos to you! The most important thing is that you realize you are not a failure ever because you tried and that successful people get that way from falling, learning, adjusting and getting back up again to do it all over. This is the time when your support and networking are so essential!

Planning- Once you have decided the path you would like to take. Sit down to form a plan. What will you need for this venture? Do you need to invest money-where will it come from? Do you need to sit down with your family to talk about a new schedule? Do you have the space you need for a home office, inventory or workshop? Do you have a plan for recruiting your downline or finding customers- or at least a way to find someone who can help you with those things? Do you have a strategy for advertising and getting your name out there? Do you need marketing materials-business cards, flyers, a website? How will you get these things? Have you started looking into forming a solid networking foundation? Do you need to find a mentor in the business you are going into? Do you need to invest in supplies- how will you do this? Do you need to be bonded or have insurance? Do you need to have a business plan written up? Will you write and submit a press release-how do you do this? Do you have a “plan B”? These are some of the questions I have encountered either with the businesses I have run or with women I have helped in finding out where their path was leading them. There are of course a different set of questions for each person but these are some of the most common I have encountered. You need to sit down and write our your plan. Having an informal business plan, maybe just a list of goals and ideas is a great idea! If you have a question you don’t know the answer to, get on the computer and find it! There are so many women out there willing to help.

I have almost 10 years under my belt as a wahm. I have learned through trial and error and the observation of other whams and women in business. I have had two moderately successful businesses that I no longer promote but still do business for existing customers. I have gone down many paths thinking they were the right ones and ended up on a totally different path. That is okay, it has been awesome! It has taught me so much and brought me to meet so many people that I have learned so much from. Let your path be a journey that not only is lucrative but joyful and fulfilling. I think as women we do what we think we have to to take care of our children and homes. We lose ourselves in there somehow. I know there is the very real notion of making money to feed the family. I was a single mom and HAD to work even though I wanted to be home with my brand new baby girl. When I finally had the chance to stay home, I made the most of it and dove into being a wife and mother. There is nothing wrong with that. There is also nothing wrong with being a wahm and finding fulfillment in your business as well as your family. As I said earlier, the two get blurred sometimes and it is hard to pull them apart when you are working form home. There is no reason you have to give up one to have the other or that you can not find joy in both. Not all women are cut out to work at home just as not all women are cut out to work outside the home. We need not judge each other but follow the path that is best for us. If you do decide to be a wahm, know that there are so many women out there who are willing to help, support, mentor, inspire and take you under their wing. Networking is the key, I just can not say it enough!

Proper Bra Sizing: What Every Woman Should Know
Most women do not wear the correct bra size. With monthly water retention cycles, dieting, and general aging, it also should not be assumed that the size you were two years ago is the same size you are today (or that a bra can be worn that long, for that matter). Even a change of 5 pounds can change your bra size. This guide will help you to properly measure your bust, so that you can find the size for you.

While most shops will have a salesperson to assist you in proper measurements, in order to buy sexy lingerie from a catalog, it is important to know your size.

How To Know If Your Current Bra Does Not Fit

The back rides up. This may mean that the cups are too small, or the band is too tight. The front of the band is too tight to get a finger under it. This means you need a larger band.

The bra cups should be entirely filled, or you may need a smaller cup. If, on the other hand, the cups are overflowing, you may need a larger cup or a different style of bra.

If the underwire digs in, you may need a larger cup size. (Or your bra could just be very old. In either case, it's time to replace it.) This could also be an indication that the side wings of the bra are not large enough.

Proper Measurements

First, you will need three measurements: under bust, upper bust, and full bust. For under the bust, measure directly under your bust. With all measurements, hold the tape secure but not too tight. For the upper bust, measure above the bust and below the arms.

If the difference between the under and upper bust is less than two inches, the under bust is your band size (round up to nearest even number). If the difference is more than two inches, add 2-3" to the under bust measurement to get an even number and use this as your band size. For the full bust, measure around a fullest part of your breast. Make sure the tape is secure around the back.

Your cup size is determined by your full bust measurement - your upper bust measurement. If the difference is less than 1", you are a AA, 1" is an A, 2" is a B, 3" is a C, 4" is a D, 5" is a DD (or an E), etc.

Beyond Measurements

Of course, your measurements are just the beginning. There are other things to keep in mind when looking for a comfortable, yet sexy bra.

When trying on different bras, make sure that the area in between the two cups actually comes into contact with your chest. Do not make the straps support your breast alone! This will be very uncomfortable over long periods of time, the bra will wear out quickly, and the pressure on the straps can cause back problems.

If you are finding the band sizes to differ for a different brand, you may also need to change your cup size. Generally, as you decrease the band size, you will need to increase your cup size, while a larger band will call for a smaller cup.

Bra Styles

Different styles of bras have different fits. Beware the convertible bras: while they may sometimes work, it is rare that every possible style will work for your body.

Full Cup / Full Coverage - Designed for support, these bras cover the entire breast.

Half Cup / Demi Cup - These bras cover 75 percent of the breast. This is a sexy cut that increases cleavage, but make sure your breasts are not "cut-off" in the center. Your profile should still be smooth, and if it isn't, you need a larger cup size.

Underwire Bras - These bras give the most support.

Racerback Bras - These bras have a crossover pattern in the back. They can have a front or back clasp, or can simply pull over the head. This is a common style for a sports bra.

Halter-Top Bras - As the name imply, these bras have a strap that loops around the neck, rather than the usual shoulder straps. These bras can increase cleavage, and can be worn with both halter tops and tops with low center coverage.

Backless Bras - While some backless bras literally have only front coverage, generally this refers to bras with extremely low backs, so that many dresses with low backs can be worn without the bra showing.

Strapless Bras - These bras have no straps at all, only the band. Some of these can cover the stomach area as well, and some even cover the body like a leotard. These longer strapless bras tend to stay in place better.

Padded Bras / Push-Up Bras - These bras have extra padding in the cups in order to give the illusion of a larger breast and/or to increase the cleavage. The padding can be made of the same material as the bra, foam, or gel. Gel is becoming more popular because of its more natural look. In some bras, the padding is removable.

Décolleté - These bras are lower cut than a demi bra, allowing you to wear something even lower cut without revealing your bra.

Light-Support Bras - These bras have no underwire. While you may be tempted to wear one to an all-day event, if you are larger than an A cup, you may not be getting the support you need. A properly fitted bra will be comfortable whether or not it has underwire.

Sports Bra - These bras are designed to minimize bouncing during athletic activity. While some inexpensive varieties do this by squishing your breasts, it is better to find on that is sized by cup sizes (as opposed to small, medium, and large) and get fitted as you would with a regular bra. Over the long term, this will increase your comfort.

Nursing Bras - For the convenience of nursing mothers, these bras have a snap on each of the shoulder straps, so she can easily remove them to feed the baby without taking off the entire bra. Generally, nursing bras are full-coverage for the added support a new mother needs.

Makeup secrets to correct the most common problems

1. A secret to liven up dull, lifeless skin.

Though it may seem complicated; with a few quick steps your skin can change in a matter of seconds.

Three basic steps ;

1. Cleansing

Cleanse your face with your usual make-up remover and finish cleansing by rinsing your whole face in cold water

2. Exfoliation

Apply an exfoliating face pack over the whole face, not forgetting the neck, and avoiding the eye and lip areas (Follow the product-specific instructions), later remove the face pack with water and pat the face dry, without rubbing.

3. Moisturising

First apply a moisturising tonic if your skin is dry or normal, and a descaling cleansing tonic if your skin is combination or greasy. Apply it over totally dry skin with a cotton pad in small touches without spreading it, so as not to irritate the skin.

Apply eye contour treatment if you need it, or if you normally use it.

Apply a moisturising serum for your skin-type (this is normally sold in ampoules at the chemist’s. Most make-up brands also produce different serums according to skin type)

Finally, apply the moisturising cream over the whole face, once the serum has been properly absorbed.

THE KEY STEP: The most important step here is the exfoliation, as skin normally appears dull and lifeless when there are dead skin cells that need removing. You should do the cleansing and moisturising steps daily (except for the serum which would be for specific occasions, according to the indications on the product used).

2. A trick for correcting acne, eye rings and skin blemishes.

The corrector/concealer is the star product here, but if you don’t have one, we are adding a trick to be able to use foundation instead of corrector.

Eye rings

Apply foundation the way you normally would (foundation should be liquid or in a cream texture) once you are done, apply the foundation with a synthetic-hair brush, once again on the eye ring region. When you finish, using a large powder puff, apply a little loose powder that is lighter than your makeup base. Apply the powder in small touches and in tiny quantities, so as not to produce folds in such a delicate area.

For acne or facial blemishes

Just as in the last step, but in the area you need to correct, here the powder you apply should be the same tone as the foundation, or totally transparent.

With this step what you have done is concentrate the foundation over the area to be corrected. Of course, the ideal thing is to use a specific corrector for eye rings, and another specific one for acne (there are brands that do acne correctors which treat as well as correct) in this case you can follow the same steps, and use corrector instead of the foundation, and you’ll see how much better the result is than when you use corrector alone.

3. An easy guide to knowing what skin-type you have

These are the most common skin types; pay attention to the characteristics of each, and identify your skin type. The best thing is always to consult a dermatologist or aesthetician.

DRY SKIN

The skin feels dry and tight.

Wrinkles appear easily, and it has no grease unless you moisturise.

Dry skin normally has a soft aspect, with small pores. It’s uncommon for it to have blackheads or zits.

Dryness may increase or decrease depending on the environment, the weather, computers, air conditioning.

One way of determining the skin’s dryness is to take it between thumb and fingers, pushing it up and then letting it go. If it snaps back to place immediately, then it’s sufficiently moisturised, if there is a little delay, then it needs moisturising.

To keep this skin soft and smooth, you need highly moisturising products, products with nutrients, moisturising face packs and eye contour treatment for day and night. Soaps should be avoided as they tend to dry up the skin. The same goes for products that contain alcohol.

NORMAL SKIN

Normal skin is neither greasy nor dry, and tends not to have zits.

The skin is perfect and appears fresh and smooth. This perfect-looking skin has small pores, and can be a little greasier in the T zone. This skin-type is not very common among adults, but can be found among almost all children.

People with this skin-type should use products specially for normal-to-sensitive skin in order to maintain this type of skin. They should avoid products that contain alcohol.

COMBINATION SKIN

Combination skin has a greasy area: the T zone, and is normal over the cheeks and neck. One needs to choose products very carefully. Moisturising a lot, and avoid drying the skin, putting a particular emphasis on cleanliness.

GREASY SKIN

Greasy skin tends to appear dull, and have blackheads. This skin is constantly producing grease. Greasy skin keeps young for longer. This skin type should be treated with specific, oil-free products but that should be sufficiently moisturising. Besides this, cleansing should be done with cleansing face packs, together with other products for greasy-skin care. The quality of this type of skin will vary from one day to the next, depending on external factors such as tobacco, stress, weather, food, etc.

SENSITIVE SKIN

Irritated blood vessels below the skin are typical in sensitive skin. Skin often feels dry and gets irritated very easily. Perfumed products and soaps can irritate this type of skin. Even products specially designed for sensitive skin can cause inflammation. The only way to find the right kind of product for it is to try them out beforehand. Products should be tried out on the inside of the arm, as any potential reaction will not be as strong here as on the face. Sensitive skin is most common among blonde or red-haired people.

Recommended products for this skin-type are gentle and very moisturising ones. Avoid very perfumed products or those that contain alcohol. Sensitive skin should not be overly exposed to the sun or to very warm temperatures.

4. Tricks for making yourself up in 10 minutes

These are the steps to follow once the skin is totally clean and moist:

Apply corrector in the areas that need it

Put the foundation on

Put the rouge on

Put on eye pencil

Put on mascara

Put on lip pencil

Put on lip gloss or balm

And that’s it. You’ll be completely made up and with a natural and pleasant aspect.

And yes, this make up should last all day, except of course on your lips, and besides, it should take you no more than 10 minutes to put on.

Below we describe each step:

-Apply corrector where necessary

This step should take a few seconds, and the difference between doing it and not doing it can be significant.

Those among you with perfect skin can avoid it, and just use it as an illuminator.

I recommend using it before foundation, although there are products on the market which are meant to be used afterwards; it doesn’t matter, as the question is to correct these areas.

The key thing here is to use the corrector in the areas where the foundation will not be able to unify the tone: a zit, a very noticeable eye ring. Once you are through you can switch to putting on the foundation.

Put on the foundation

Use a make-up sponge (with or without latex, according to preference and skin type) and moisten it (just lightly) so as to be able to spread it more quickly (naturally, I am referring here to liquid or cream foundation, which are the easiest and quickest to put on).

For the liquid version, apply some on the upper part of your left hand (or the other way round if you are left-handed), and dab the liquid foundation lightly with the dampened sponge, but don’t pick it all up.

Start to apply the foundation from the forehead towards the sides, next from the nose towards either side, then the chin towards either side and upwards, and lastly the neck and the ears, if you are short-haired.

Once your whole face is made up, with another part of the sponge, go over the areas where you can see too much make-up, and spread it in small upward strokes.

Put more emphasis on the areas that need correction most, for instance on the outer corner of the eye (this tends to go red) on the nostrils and around the lips.

Applying rouge

This is the easiest bit. Use a tone that flatters you and apply it on the cheekbone and on the mobile eyelid with a rouge brush, blending well so that it ends up looking natural, with a loose powder brush, or using the same rouge brush but with no product on.

That's it. You can go to the next step now.

Applying eye pencil

This step is a perfect trick if you have few eyelashes or want to make them look thicker than they are.

Sharpen the pencil, and for daytime makeup use one in dark brown or grey (for it to look more natural) and apply it in small touches (not in a line) among the lashes on the mobile lid, avoiding the tear duct area, and end up three or four lashes short of where the eye ends.

The idea is that it look like we have more lashes, not like we are wearing mascara.

If it is too noticeable, its because you have put too much product on. Don’t worry: just blend it out with a fine brush or a Q-tip.

Applying mascara

This is an indispensable step in make-up. I know that many of you don’t like mascara because you’ve got to remove it later, it runs, etc. The truth is that, yes, obviously you have to remove it in the end, but if you use a good mascara (for daytime it needn’t be water-resistant: normal ones come off easily) as well as protecting your eyelashes all day, it’ll come off when removed.

A good trick is to always do the lower lashes first, to avoid staining the upper eyelid. Apply the mascara in zigzag fashion, then apply the mascara on the upper lashes, firstly downwards, then upwards. You needn’t put on too much mascara, as this is daytime make-up.

You can use a dark brown mascara but as we are using so little colour in the face, I recommend the black, unless you’re a very light-blue-eyed blonde.

Applying lipstick

Although this is basic daytime makeup, I recommend not to forget the lips. If you’ve paid attention, you’ll have noticed that at no time did I say that I recommend making the lips up with foundation , since, the way I see it, foundation on the lips does not look very natural.

Use a pencil very close in tone to your lip, tending towards the pink but with brown pigments, outline the lips and put some inside the lips also. This way it’ll last you a lot longer and you won’t need to use lipstick unless you so desire.

Apply gloss or balm

The pencil will normally tend to dry a bit, and to blend the colour in you’ll need a little gloss or balm, which one is up to you; balm is more moisturising and natural, and gloss makes your lips thicker and more juicy.

Final touch

Apply an illuminator (or if you don’t have one, a bit of white, semi-pearl powder will do) in the space below the eyebrow , at the top of the cheekbone, and on the chin, so as to light up the face in a very natural manner, making you look spectacular.
